Praxic Magic
This is mostly a reiteration on how Magic User already work (with some changes), but that came about because in my game:
a. There's no "Divine Magic". Clerics and the like perform Miracles, just like in Errant.
b. There are no splits between who can cast what. Magic is magic.
c. There are however multiple ways to cast magic (true-name, truth speaking, demonic favor, etc)
d. I wanted to have a name to reference the kind of magic the Magic User has
I also wanted to have a combined spell selection list that combined some of the Clerical and Illusionist spells with the Magic User's, and reinforced the idea of magic as a tool rather than a weapon (though players can have it be that as well)

Praxic Magic
Praxic Magic is a form of magic done through praxes: magic formulae, studied and memorized by the sorcerer, which involve the use of keywords and specific gesturing.
It is common for praxes to require fetishes: material components that allow the magic to take root in the material plane, sometimes being consumed in the process. A common fetish to many praxes is blood.
Well known praxes:
- Charm Person
- Cure Wounds
- Detect Magic
- Disguise Self
- Hold Portal
- Hypnotism
- Light
- Protect from Evil
- Read Languages
- Remove Fear
- Ventriloquism
- Wall of Fog
A praxic mage must spend their own vital energy when invoking, putting their own existence at risk during praxis. This is especially true when the desired effect is much higher than the mastery of the sorcerer over the particular praxis being invoked.
Broadly speaking, the greater or longer lasting the desired effect for the praxis, the more energy and time are required for its conjuration. More valuable and/or potent fetishes might be required, or even cooperation amongst many conjurers.
Learning New Praxes
To create new praxes, the sorcerer must make experiments by itself, recording the results in their grimoire, such as to perfect their understanding of the magic. During this process, they will be required to spend energy and fetishes until they refine and learn the formula for the praxis.
It is also possible to learn new praxes by reading the grimoires of other conjurers. This process demands less energy and fetishes expenditure than creating a new praxis, but requires intensive concentration to translate and adapt the praxis to oneself.
